The Peveril Ledges lie at Peveril Point, Swanage, Dorset. These rock ledges can either be dived across the ‘Inner Ledge’, where depths range from 12 metres to 18 metres or the ‘Outer Ledge’ where depths range from about 24 metres to 30 metres, or to 34 metres in a spot known locally as ‘The Well’. The area we drift dived was just off the ledges and to my amazement was abundant with beautiful coloured seaweed and soft corals. Onto the sand we saw a smoothhound shark, rare undulate rays, squid eggs, dogfish and spider crabs. A thoroughly enjoyable dive with great visibility.
