In April 2016, CMP Thames were contracted to install a 350m length, 800mm diametre outfall pipeline from Branksome Chine beach out to sea. The pipe was sunk to the seabed using controlled submersion techniques and the trench backfilled at a cost of £850,000. A marine outfall is a pipeline or tunnel that discharges wastewater, stormwater, combined sewer overflows or cooling water to the sea. Usually they discharge under the sea’s surface. On 7th April 2017 I completed a night dive of the pipe down to max depth of seven metres with Coast2Coast Scuba Diving based in Dorset.
