Black Hawk Wreck

The Black Hawk was torpedoed by a German submarine in December 1944. It was towed into Worbarrow Bay and then beached.  Declared a total loss in April 1945, the wreck was then blown to pieces with explosives to clear the way for the Winfrith pipeline. It is broken up into many pieces with lots of marine life, lying in its rock shingle sea bed at forteen metres or so.
